Extreme Classrooms – “The Coldest Classroom on Earth”

The first ever Extreme Classroom project took place in the High Arctic. The idea was the brainchild of Mr Trystan Williams and Alan Chambers. This was a brave first attempt to challenge children with special educational needs beyond the classroom. The experience of these four children was captured by BBC World for a short 30-minute documentary and shows that labels do not work for children with special educational needs. The courage shown by each child on this incredible adventure to the ice fields of Svalbard speaks volumes for their potential in life. Each participant on ‘The Coldest Classroom on Earth’ returned home with greater self belief and determination to challenge themselves beyond societies expectations.
